When Scream 4 arrived in theaters in April, it was rumored to be the start of a new trilogy. Unfortunately, the long-awaited sequel didn't fare well at the box-office and many people assumed the franchise was as good as dead. Wes Craven, however, begs to argue and states that a fifth film will likely happen somewhere down the road. Hopefully it's not another ten year wait as I think that was Scream 4's biggest issue. I have a feeling the DVD release for the film will be far more successful than the theatrical release. The final twist is by far the best yet in my opinin and I think there will be a lot of word of mouth to help hype the DVD release of the movie.

 

Wes Craven had this to say about the possibility of Scream 5:

 

"Yes. The odds are that there will be (a Scream 5). It is something that Bob Weinstein wants to do. He tends to do what he wants to do. So I am inclined to think that there will be (another sequel). Whether I will be a part of it or not? I don't know. My contract gives me the first look. If they show me something that is really wonderful? Of course I will be a part of it."
