Jason Statham New Lead In Transformers 4?!

TransformersThis is some very interesting yet rather shocking news if I do say so myself. While each Transformers installment is consistently met with bad reviews by Michael Bay-hating critics, the franchise is a box-office juggernaut. The latest entry in the franchise, Transformers: Dark of the Moon, opened just last Wednesday and it's already managed to break several records. With that said, what studio in their right mind who owns the rights to the franchise wouldn't want to continue making Transformers movies?

Both director Michael Bay and actor Shia LaBeouf have confirmed that they are finished with the franchise but that doesn't mean the franchise is finished. In fact, Tyrese Gibson mentioned recently that there's a possibility executive producer Steven Spielberg could step into the directors chair. In addition, Jason Statham is reportedly in talks to replace LaBeouf as the lead which would take the series in a whole new direction. What makes this even more likely is the fact that Statham is engaged to Rosie Huntington-Whiteley who replaced Megan Fox as LaBeouf's love interest for the third film.

I'm not sure if Jason Statham is the right person for the job, but I'd certainly pay money to see 'The Transporter' kick the crap out of robots. What do you guys think? Do you think Jason Statham belongs in the next Transformers film?
