Batman Remake Coming After Dark Knight Rises?

BatmanSeriously, when is this remake cycle going to end? Is originality in Hollywood extinct? Warner Bros. had a hard enough time getting The Dark Knight Rises off the ground and now the studio is already planning a reboot to the original Batman movie. Christopher Nolan, who directed Batman Begins, The Dark Knight and is currently shooting The Dark Knight Rises, is apparently one of the last true filmmakers in the industry. He originally refused to helm a third Batman movie because The Dark Knight was such an extraordinary motion picture and he didn't feel it was fair to the fans to make a third movie if it wasn't going to top its predecessors. With that said, The Dark Knight Rises just recently went into production thus it seems odd that Warner Bros. is already prepping for a reboot to the original.

The news comes straight from Warner Bros. chief Jeff Robinov who told the LA Times, "We have the third Batman, but then we'll have to reinvent Batman. Chris Nolan and wife Emma Thomas will be producing it, so it will be a conversation with them about what the next phase is."

The biggest problem Warner Bros. is going to run into is that Christopher Nolan has already made it very clear that he won't make another Batman movie after The Dark Knight Rises and Christian Bale has said he won't return unless Nolan is in the director's chair. Nolan and Bale are all about pleasing the fans, but Warner Bros. isn't going to stop making Batman movies simply because they're too profitable. Just wait, in the next few years we'll have another awful Batman film to laugh at just as we did at Batman and Robin. Your thoughts?
