E-mailThe Most Anticipated Movies of 2011. I'll be honest with you guys, I thought 2010 was an awful year for movies. I've been counting down the top ten motion pictures in any given year since Reel Empire launched back in 2006. 2010 was the only year I didn't do so merely because I couldn't think of ten really good movies I saw. Sure, I could have put together a list of ten decent movies, but that's not what the lists are all about. They're about having a difficult time trying decide which movie deserves the number one spot because there were so many great movies throughout the year. Fortunately, 2011 looks far more promising.
I did some research and managed to construct a list of 15 of the most anticipated films of 2011. Like 2007, there are a lot of sequels on the list as well as adaptations. Nevertheless, a majority of the movies that made the list look promising and here's to hoping that 2011 makes up for the crappy releases of 2010. 15. Scream 4 (April 15)
Cast: Neve Campbell, David Arquette, Courtney Cox
Plot: Ten years have passed, and Sidney Prescott, who has put herself back together thanks in part to her writing, is visited by the Ghostface Killer.
14. Green Lantern (June 17)
Cast: Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, Peter Sarsgaard
Plot: A test pilot is granted a mystical green ring that bestows him with otherworldly powers, as well as membership into an intergalactic squadron tasked with keeping peace within the universe.
13. Thor (May 6)
Cast: Natalie Portman, Anthony Hopkins, Chris Hemsworth
Plot: The powerful but arrogant warrior Thor is cast out of the fantastic realm of Asgard and sent to live amongst humans on Earth, where he soon becomes one of their finest defenders.
12. Kung Fu Panda 2 (May 27)
Cast: Jack Black, Angelina Jolie, Gary Oldman
Plot: Po joins forces with a group of new kung-fu masters to take on an old enemy with a deadly new weapon.
11. The Green Hornet (January 14)
Cast: Jay Chou, Cameron Diaz, Christoph Waltz
Plot: Following the death of his father, Britt Reid, heir to his father's large company, teams up with his late dad's assistant Kato to become a masked crime fighting team.
10. Captain America: The First Avenger (July 22)
Cast: Chris Evans, Hugo Weaving, Tommy Lee Jones
Plot: After being deemed unfit for military service, Steve Rogers volunteers for a top secret research project that turns him into Captain America, a superhero dedicated to defending America's ideals.
9. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows: Part II (July 15)
Cast: Daniel Radcliffe, Gary Oldman, Emma Watson
Plot: The end begins as Harry, Ron, and Hermione go back to Hogwarts to find and destroy Voldemorts final horcruxes, but when Voldemort finds out about their mission, the biggest battle begins and life as they know it will never be the same again.
8. Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn: Part I (November 18)
Cast: Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner, Kristen Stewart
Plot: The Quileute and the Volturi close in on expecting parents Edward and Bella, whose unborn child poses different threats to the wolf pack and vampire coven.

6. Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (May 20)
Cast: Johnny Depp, Geoffrey Rush, Ian McShane
Plot: Jack Sparrow and Barbossa embark on a quest to find the elusive fountain of youth, only to discover that Blackbeard and his daughter are after it too.
5. Cars 2 (June 24)
Cast: Owen Wilson, Michael Caine, Bonnie Hunt
Plot: Racing star Lightning McQueen teams up with his best friend Mater for an international adventure as they go up against the world's fastest cars.
4. X-Men: First Class (June 3)
Cast: January Jones, James McAvoy, Kevin Bacon
Plot: Before Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr took the names Professor X and Magneto, they were two young men discovering their powers for the first time. Before they were archenemies, they were closest of friends, working together, with other Mutants (some familiar, some new), to stop the greatest threat the world has ever known. In the process, a rift between them opened, which began the eternal war between Magneto's Brotherhood and Professor X's X-MEN.
3. The Hangover 2 (May 26)
Cast: Bradley Cooper, Liam Neeson, Jamie Chung
Plot: No details released at this time.
2. One for the Money (July 8)
Cast: Katherine Heigl, John Leguizamo, Debbie Reynolds
Plot: Unemployed and newly-divorced Stephanie Plum lands a job at her cousin's bail-bond business, where her first assignment puts her on the trail of a wanted local cop from her romantic past.
1. Transformers: Dark of the Moon (July 1)
Cast: Shia LaBeouf, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson
Plot: The Autobots learn of a Cybertronian spacecraft hidden on the Moon, and race against the Decepticons to reach it and learn its secrets, which could turn the tide in the Transformers' final battle.
