Matt Damon Not Pleased With New Bourne Film

Matt Damon not pleased with new Bourne film. It was announced this past October that Tony Gilroy, writer of the first three "Bourne" movies, was set to write and direct the fourth installment in Universal's popular franchise. The fourth film is entitled "The Bourne Legacy" and is, like it's predecessors, based on the book of the same name.

In addition, it was also revealed not long after that Matt Damon wouldn't be back for the fourth film to reprise his role as Jason Bourne. Instead, it was reported that a new character would be introduced, however, the story would allow for Damon and the director of the first three movies Paul Greengrass to return for future sequels.

Universal has made it clear that they want to carry on the "Bourne" franchise with or without Matt Damon and Paul Greengrass long into the future. MTV recently caught up with Damon who revealed that he is not very pleased with what Universal plans to do with the franchise. Read on to see what he had to say!

"I have no idea what (Tony Gilroy) has planned. But he's a very smart guy, so I'm sure it's going to be good. I do know that whatever he's doing won't preclude Paul Greengrass and I from coming back and doing ours. What they ultimately want is a franchise that can kind of go on and on. We explained to them that our character isn't like James Bond. You can't send him on a mission. There's character development, there's an arc that the character has traveled through the three movies. You don't just start over at the beginning of every movie. I think what they're looking for is a way to build that in so that they can continue without Paul and me eventually. I love the character. I love the stories. But only if Paul Greengrass says he will direct again. So far, though, he's decided not to. I'd definitely say yes if he went for it. I know he would have a great story, and it would protect the legacy of what we created."

Personally, I think Matt Damon has every right to be upset. After all, he and Paul have crafted one of the best action franchises of all time and if I were either of them, I wouldn't want to see my franchise destroyed by a money-milking studio either. What do you guys think?
