Is John Cena our new Superman? Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures seem to be realizing that a lot of fans weren't happy with their casting decision in their previous Superman movie "Superman Returns." Of course, that doesn't mean actor Brandon Routh as been ruled out to reprise his role as the Man of Steel. Still, there are a few other actors in the running as well including current "Smallville" resident Tom Welling. He was actually offered the role of Clark Kent in "Superman Returns" but turned it down. With "Smallville" coming to an end after this season, he'll undoubtedly be looking for new work. "True Blood's" Joe Manganiello is also in the running for the character and according to reports, a new actor has been thrown in the mix.
Wrestler turned actor, John Cena is now reportedly in talks to play Superman which has lead to speculation that Dwayne Johnson could also be up for the part. Personally, I don't think either of them are good enough actors to take on the role, but they sure have the muscles.
Zack Snyder who directed "300" and "Watchmen" has been dying to direct the new "Batman" film, but that was before Christopher Nolan decided to return. It was recently confirmed that he was onboard to helm the new "Superman" film which is reportedly a reboot. I guess one DC character is as good as another. We'll keep you posted.
