E-mailNo Mary Jane in new Spiderman reboot. The Wrap is reporting that despite previous reports, the Mary Jane Watson character will not appear in Marc Webb's "Spiderman" reboot which is curently untitled.
Recent reports claimed that Emma Stone had landed the role of Mary Jane Watson, a role previously played by actress Kristen Dunst. A few days later, however, it was revealed that she would be playing a character named Gwen Stacy. There was some speculation that both characters would have parts in the film, however, it seems James Vanderbilt's script never included Mary Jane Watson to begin with. There was indeed talk to give the character some screentime, but in the end, they decided to stick with one leading female, Gwen Stacy.
In related news, Martin Sheen will play Uncle Ben and it's being reported that Sally Field is in talks for the role of Aunt May. Field's deal is still in the early stages. We'll keep you posted!
