Okay, so as badly as I wanted to say I wasn't surprised with the box office performance from "Twilight: New Moon" yesterday, I simply can't. The film, which I figured would bring in some prett big numbers at the Friday box office, I didn't expect it to bring in a number like $72.7 million. "The Dark Knight" was the previous title holder with $67.2 million. Now "New Moon" holds the record for the biggest one-day gross. Unfortunately, I think that's where the record breaking is going to slow and possibly even halt. The original "Twilight" was heavily Friday loaded due to fans storming theaters on opening day. Saturday and Sunday brought in much lowers numbers and I think we can expect the same from "New Moon". Either way, that's a big achievement for a film with such a small budget. Congratulations to the cast and crew for this accomplishment!
