Well, I can't say I didn't see this one coming. Richard Kelly's "The Box" has been in production for what seems like ages, but was left on the studio's backburner up until this year. Usually, that's a sheer sign that a film is going to perform poorly at the box-office and poor it did. The current weekend estimate for the film is a measly $7 million. That's an utter failure considering the film's budget was $25 million. Then again, the film could easily make that in DVD sales. At this rate, box-office disaster could arrive on video as soon as two months from now. Had the studio gave the film some better promotion, I'm sure that $7 million might very well have been $15 million or more. What a shame.
