E-mailEllen DeGeneres leaving 'American Idol.' This is news to us! We had no idea Ellen DeGeneres was leaving Fox's hit reality series "American Idol" after just one season. How did we find out? Apparently, host Ryan Seacrest is really bummed about her departure. He took to his Twitter page saying, "Spoke with Ellen DeGeneres tonight. I will miss her on 'Idol'."
Simon Cowell made a similar comment. "As I got to know Ellen, I grew to really, really like her," Cowell said in a recent statement. "I have huge respect for her because she's always been in control of her destiney."
Ellen is reportedly leaving "American Idol" because her work schedule had become too overwhelming. "It was a difficult decision to make, but my work schedule became more than I bargained for," she wrote.
Bummer! We were all really starting to like Ellen on the show. She was a good replacement for Paula Abdul as the nice person who didn't want to hurt anyone's feelings. We will miss you Ellen, but we'll still be tuning into your show!
