Chris Golightly disqualified from 'American Idol'? In case you guys were wondering why Chris Golightly was absent from last night's episode of Fox's hit reality show "American Idol", E! Online managed to get the story.

They report that Golightly used to be under contract with a boy band, which he claimed expired in July 2009, the same month he auditioned for "American Idol" and assured producers he was no longer under contract.

The problem, however, was that his former label claimed that he was still their talent. Unfortunately, the singer was unable to find his contract release forms which could prove he was qualified to continue the competition thus he was given the ax. To make matters worse, Golightly wasn't notified of his removal from the competition until a few hours before last night's episode. Replacing him was 20-year-old Texas Tim Urban.
