It’s no surprise that after the success The CW network had with their “Beverly Hill’s 90210” reboot that another teen-drama of that time would be revived. And what else is there to say but that the first episode of “Melrose Place” is the most clever, fast-paced pilot I’ve seen in years.

There are a few familiar faces including Michael (Thomas Calabro) and black-mailing land lord Sydney (Laura Leighton) and while I wouldn’t dare ruin the shocker that comes before the opening credits, I will say that one of these characters has a ‘deadly’ experience.

New faces rock the West Hollywood apartment complex including couple Riley and Jonah (Jessica Lucas and Michael Rady), alcoholic Auggie (Colin Egglesfield) and of course the deviously naïve Violet (Ashley Simpson-Wentz) who does an exceptional job for her first major acting gig.

While this is only the first episode of the new “Melrose Place”, it’s got some enticing characters and a gripping story-line that’s both mysterious and the complete opposite of what you’d expect from a show on The CW.

I hope the rest of the season is as intriguing as this because it obviously has potential and could very well help the network move closer to the major leagues in regard to television channels. I’m anxious to see what other surprises the writers have in store for us in what looks to be a promising new drama.
