My Own Worst Enemy Hot

My Own Worst Enemy

Henry Spivey, an efficiency expert, lives a typical suburban life, right down to the wife, two kids, dog, and minivan. In contrast, Edward Albright is a lethal, multilingual operative. It would seem the two men have nothing in common -- except for the fact that they inhabit the same body. When each personality finds himself out of his element, things go awry.

Have you ever thought to yourself while watching an action movie “Wow, this would make a cool television series”? Of course, the truth about TV shows that claim to be from this particular genre ooze with so much drama and other unnecessary elements that the action rarely comes. One show that managed to pull this off was “24”. To this day, each season has been explosive, consisting of non-stop action. From stunning car chases, to collapsing building, my hats off to Fox for making each year of “24” just as good as the previous.

Getting back on topic, “My Own Worst Enemy” has a lot of potential, however, throughout the show’s entire first season, it never uses it to its fullest. Nevertheless, the writers have developed enticing characters and the cast does a brilliant job in bringing them to life. Most notable (as he should be) is Christian Slater who, long story short, plays two totally different characters yet they’re the same person.

What sucks about “My Own Worst Enemy” is that it was a filler. NBC cancelled another show and used this to replace the gap thus the cast and crew weren’t sure as to whether the network would pick the series up as a regular. As a result, the story-line is slopped together leaving numerous plot-holes and a slap-in-the-face cliffhanger due to the writers thinking a second season was a possibility. Unfortunately, the show was axed and now we’ll never see an explanation as to what happened at the end of the first season.

Overall, “My Own Worst Enemy” is a jolting rollercoaster ride. It’s packed with twist and turns, witty dialogue and exceptional performances. Even with the poorly manifested story-line, the show still manages to please.
