Howard Hughes was a man of many talents. He was an inventor, a filmmaker, an eccentric billionaire, and he was also a man who lived on the edge of his sanity. The Aviator delves deep into the mind of Hughes, one of the greatest minds the world has ever seen. The Aviator depicts the life that Hughes lived. Whether it be out with the most beautiful women in hollywood, like Jean Harlow and Ava Gardner, or making controversial big-budget films like Hell's Angels or The Outlaw, Hughes always struggled with his own mind.

Leonardo DiCaprio is great in the role of the eccentric Hughes. As he shows just how passionate Hughes was about doing things his way. The Aviator shows what kind of a man Hughes was, a man who was deathly afraid of germs, and despite spending millions of dollars on building airplanes and buying lavish gifts for his female companions, would also be wary of spending hardly any money at all on clothes. The movie also shows stars of today playing the roles of screen legends, like Kate Beckinsale and Cate Blanchett as Ava Gardner, respectively. Blanchett comes off as trying too hard, but seems more in tune with the role as the movie goes on. Beckinsale has limited scenes, but is still memorable as always. Other cast members like Alec Baldwin and John C. Reilly are very good in their roles and help make The Aviator a very good film.

The Aviator is not a perfect movie, but it is one of the best biopics ever made and is yet another outstanding movie from Martin Scorsese.
