The film is a work of art, no doubt about that, but looking at "The Hunting Party" as a portrait, it seems the artist was unsure as to where to connect the lines.

Told from the point of view of a cameraman, Duck, the film follows a trio of journalists who set out to locate a dictator known as 'The Fox', wanted for war crimes and on whom a $5 million dollar bounty has been placed. In the midst of their journey, the group finds themselves in a brutal fight for their lives as they struggle to outrun government officials as well as the local police.

The biggest problem resides within the script's structure. Though the exposition is lengthy (thanks to a extraordinary voiceover provided by Terrence Howard), the most important details are seemingly left for the viewer to uncover for themselves, which isn't a problem for those willing to think but will prove to be an issue for those used to having their explanation delivered on a plate.

Both of the film's headlining actors turn in terrific performances, however, their dialogue is almost too greatly defined, leaving viewers blindsided and exceptionally confused.

Classifying "The Hunting Party" as a black comedy will prove to be a grave mistake as the brutality collides head-on with this poor marketing strategy. What an immense disappointment seeing how beautifully the film is shot and how vividly the imagery is captured.

Despite the poorly manifested story-line and overtly precise dialogue that comes out of the actors' mouths, most viewers should gain a significant amount of suspense that'll leave them with an ulcer come the film's stunning climax.
