TRANSFORMERS: REVENGE OF THE FALLEN takes place two years after the events of the first movie where the Autobots have now formed an elite unit called NEST which is responsible for wiping out any threat of the Decepticons. They are warned of the coming of an new threat called 'The Fallen' coming to earth and hell-bent on the destruction of the earth.

With the recent criticism that the movie has been receiving and the news that due that criticism Michael Bay would not be returning to the directors chair for part 3 things didn't look good for TRANSFORMERS: REVENGE OF THE FALLEN but sometimes it's necessary to ignore all the bad press and sit and judge for yourself. Movies like TRANSFORMERS are for a specific target audience. There's the fan boys who if anything will be more critical than anyone else and then there's the action junkies who just wanna see stuff blow up and hot females in little or no clothes. It's clear that if your preferred genre of movie are Oscar-worthy drama's with substance over style then this won't be for you and its should probably be avoided. But for the rest of us who can enjoy a movie for what it is then this is a must see.

On the negative side with its 197 minutes run time it's long but if your one who fits into the afore-mentioned target audience this will fly in and you'll be left wanting even more. The inclusion of some new Autobots that were overused (Mudflap / Skids) and annoying at times as well of some favourites from the last movie that were perhaps under-used this frustrated a little but not enough to take away the enjoyment.

If nothing else the movie is worth the watch if only to see some of the battle scenes between Optimus Prime and the Deceptions which are truly a joy to behold. Sometimes when dealing with this kind of CGI this can look bad but in this case this did not suffer.

Yet more proof if the right people are in place that these adaptation's of childhood favourites can work. If it turns out to be true it's unfortunate that that Michael Bay won't return for another sequel - The man obviously knows how to do Action. Perhaps, not as good as the first movie but a very enjoyable movie-going experience none the less.
