Larry Daley and pals from the Museum of Natural History are back for more shenanigans in Night of the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian, but unfortunately for them, they fail to top their predecessor. Ben Stiller is once again Daley and while Robin Williams and Owen Wilson return, Amy Adams(Amelia Earhart), Hank Azaria(a fictional pharoah named Kamunra), and Bill Hader(Gen. George Custer) but despite this talented cast, the movie doesn't quite make it into the history books. The movie picks up 2 years after the first one, and Daley is now an inventor. But after learning that all his old pals are being shipped out to archives, he has to do something about it. After once again donning the uniform and flashlight, Daley makes his way down the depths of the Smithsonian Museum. Amy Adams is charismatic and repetitive as the female daredevil Amelia Earhart, but seemed at times as though she was trying a bit too hard. Hank Azaria is very funny at first as the lisping Kamunra, but he tends to get old rather quickly too. Bill Hader does a very good job with limited lines in the movie as General George Custer, but maybe that's what kept him from doing too much like Adams and Azaria. Ben Stiller is good again as Daley, but obviously wasn't the only star in this movie and unfortunately, neither was Robin Williams. Owen Wilson reprised his role as pint-sized cowpoke Jedediah and was pretty much the only consistently funny person in the movie. While the action in this movie is pretty good, it seems uninspired in the storytelling department. I wasn't wowed by this movie like i was the first, but i did come away feeling satisfied.
