"Super Bad" revolves around two co-dependent high school seniors (Hill and Cera) who set out to score alcohol for a party, believing that girls will then hook up with them and they will be ready for college. But as the night grows more chaotic, overcoming their separation anxiety becomes a greater challenge than getting the girls.

From the crazed minds of Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg comes Superbad, a half-funny, half-lame attempt at a new teen comedy. Starring virtual unknowns Jonah Hill, Michael Cera, and Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Superbad lacks star quality, and well people who are genuinely funny. Most of the laughs in this movie come from Rogen, co-star Bill Hader, and even fellow newcomer Emma Stone. While Superbad is set in present day, Rogen and Co. decided to give a half-hearted attempt at a 70's feel with lame funk music and silhouetted credits (Jonah Hill is wearing 70's style gear for most of the movie). For most of the movie is just Hill and Cera going through what seem like a formality to show just how uncouth these losers really are. The movie sort of drags on and on with gags that warrant little more than a snicker, but according to the DVD case, its an uproarious and touching picture. (funny how every movie made nowadays is critically acclaimed). A few gross-outs serve up some unexpected laughs, but nothing special. While the movie is decent, it appears as though its trying to reinvent the teen comedy genre, when it does little more than come off as another American pie wannabe. If you're looking for a decent teen comedy, i would recommend this movie, but not for side-splitting laughter.
