If there's one thing Disney does with masterful skill its make fairy tale movie musicals about princesses. After horrible years stuck making awful straight to DVD sequels, they let Pixar take over and dominate the animated film sphere. Now they are back to basics and trying to regain the trust of the movie going public. They went back to 2D hand drawn animation last year and made “The Princess and The Frog.” That one was a decent movie but not great. Certainly not back to their former glory, and it's really only because of one reason. The music in that film was terrible. The songs can make or break a musical. Randy Newman is the absolute worst. Hiring him for that movie was a big mistake. But Disney learns from its mistakes. They are back again to the fairy tale princess milieu and have wisely gone with the song writers responsible for some of there other classics.

”Tangled” is the story of Rapunzel, the girl locked away in a tower with extremely long hair. Disney got some flack for changing the name, but seriously who cares. This movie really is Disney going back to a proven form and doing it well, again. The story also has a complexity to the villain that adults will appreciate. They've made relatable and fun characters and set them on an adventure fraught with drama. The movie is full of humor and whimsy, and the two main characters are irresistibly charming.

Despite the fact that this movie is computer generated instead of hand drawn, I would say that Disney is finally back to making good films. The problem is that the public may not recognize this. I don't expect this movie too make as much money as a Pixar movie, but it should. This film holds up against the other Disney classics of the early 90s. It was an extremely wise decision to make sure the film had good music. I'd say that this film follows a path that the movie “Enchanted” already laid out a few years ago. It's clever and fun and a return to a tried and true style. Your daughter will undoubtedly love it.
