“Just Wright” is a feel-good movie for any woman who never thought she was good enough for a the man of her dreams, however, there’s not much else that can be said about the film starring Queen Latifah, Common and Paula Patton. Once the story is established, the film is a drag. It’s a concept we’ve seen recycled countless times over the years and it won’t take long for viewers to play out every coming scene in their head before they even take place on screen.

The script is cushioned, stuffed with unnecessary scenes that are merely fillers in a story that could be told in less than half an hour. They do nothing to push the film forward and they’re completely vacant of any humor.

The actors are solid, putting as much effort into their roles as possible, but there is only so much they can do with such one-dimensional characters. On top of that, the dialogue is stale and reeks of simplicity. “Yes. No. Maybe later.” It’s almost as if the writers were translating for viewers ages 9 and under.

“Just Wright” as a title doesn’t quite fit this lackluster feature. There’s little right about it, yet it’s not a cinematic tragedy like so many subjectively similar presentations. Like I said, it’s a feel-good flick; nothing more and nothing less.
