Is Facebook shutting down March 15? I don't know what my deal is lately, but I'm having fun with all the web rumors that have managed to climb their way to the top of various search engines. The latest hoax that has people around the globe concerned is the one claiming Facebook will be shutting down on March 15th. Is this true? Absolutely not.
 
For one thing, Facebook is a billion-dollar service bringing in revenue through advertisements, products and partnerships with other companies. Millions upon millions of people around the world log into their accounts on a daily basis, including myself, making it the largest social network of all time. Cell phones, websites, etc. are integrated seemlessly with Facebook thus if it were shutting down, it would leave an enormous gap in the tech world.
 
I have no idea how this rumor was sparked, but it's totally false. I have to admit, even I got a bit worried for a split second before I realized just how unlikely it was that Facebook would be no more. Relax guys. Your favorite social network will still be around come March 15, 2011.
